Era 3: Transatlantic Crossing & Early Colonial Knowledge Poster
Knowledge Crosses Boundaries
1500 – 1790
Knowledge is more than information. It lives in the skills we practice, the stories we remember, and the traditions we pass to future generations.
During the era of transatlantic crossings and early colonial expansion, African people experienced profound upheaval, including forced displacement and enslavement. Yet knowledge of agriculture, craftsmanship, food preparation, healing, and other practices continued to be preserved, adapted, and shared.
This poster invites Explorers to recognize the importance of cultural memory, human resilience, and the contributions of African knowledge to communities across the Atlantic.
